Shropshire Trauma Support offers a group support programme for individuals experiencing post-traumatic stress. While we're not professional clinicians, we're not amateurs either. Amongst us, we have the lived experience of the complexities of PTSD and a Level 2 counselling qualification.

I was diagnosed with complex PTS back in the 90's, stemming from a mother who experienced psychotic episodes. She could be violent at times, and as a dependent infant, you don't have much in the way of resources. This led to a dissociative disorder along with many other trauma symptoms. Fast forward to 2010 and I was managing a drop-in for people with mental health difficulties. I could see the need for additional support for people living with trauma, so along with my friends Rob & Gill, we formed Shropshire Trauma Support.
I've been a family man, teacher, and businessman. In 70 plus years I've had lots of failures. Dealing with these, I've found it really useful to share my questions and dilemmas with other people on life's journey.

Listening and learning are my defining passions. I married Rob and taught for years before finding the courage to try entrepreneurial work together. Pete joined us for a while, working to reduce social isolation in Herefordshire. Mindfulness has nurtured me since around 2012 and I love Hippocrates’ view of wellbeing: “The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.” I feel deeply honoured to be part of Shropshire Trauma Support. The key question for me is how mindfulness and self-compassion can nourish our healing journey.
